We look forward to personally welcoming you to Hofstra University’s Lawrence Herbert School of Communication Summer Visit Day!

Your Summer Visit Day will include:

    • An admission information session and a campus tour that includes a residence hall.

    • An academic overview and tour of the communication school highlighting the many offerings you will be able to take advantage of as a student here:

      • The Herbert School was named one of Variety magazine's top film schools for the fourth straight year in 2023, praised by the publication for staying ahead of industry trends with the addition of new faculty and new course offerings, including Production Design, Visual Effects, Writing 'Microbudget' Films, and Film Genres: Middle East and North Africa.

      • If you love sports, we have three sports-focused degree options for Herbert School majors to choose from. Journalism and Public Relations majors may select an optional Sports concentration, while our exciting new interdepartmental Sports Media Bachelor of Science is our most intensive offering.

      • All majors can become involved with the award-winning WRHU-88.7 FM, flagship radio station of the NHL’s New York Islanders for more than a decade. WRHU students create a variety of content (news, talk, public affairs, music, and sports); cover live games for Hofstra's teams, NBA G-League Long Island Nets, Long Island Ducks baseball, and the NY Riptide box lacrosse franchise; produce and distribute all NY Islanders live NHL games; and report from political rallies, breaking news events, music festivals, and more.

      • Visit the WRHU main office and you'll also find the WABC TV Eyewitness News Long Island Bureau, which allows our students to interact with working professionals on a regular basis and provides access to expanded internships, guest lectures, and other special events.

      • Our students have the opportunity to intern year-round at major media destinations, such as ABC News, Comedy Central, Edelman, ESPN, MTV, NBC News, Saturday Night Live, Marvel Entertainment, SiriusXM, CBS, Sesame Workshop, and many more.

      • Hofstra's student media organizations are among the finest in the country - and serve up a wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities to have fun, work with fellow students, and practice the skills you learn in the classroom. Whether in writing, public relations, TV, audio/radio, film, journalism, or any other area of media - there’s a club or organization that suits your interest.

      • The Herbert School has numerous signature programs and unique study away opportunities that truly enhance the student experience. These include: the Hofstra in LA program, Hofstra in Rome, Hofstra in Cuba, and Hofstra in NYC.

    Check-in begins at 10 a.m. and programming begins at 10:15 a.m.

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
