Virtual College for a Day: Management & Entrepreneurship Course

Hofstra University invites you to join a virtual course designed to give you an idea of what it is like to be a college student. In this session Professor Fuller-Smith will go over Lizzo's alleged hostile work environment. Melissa Jefferson, better known as Lizzo, is a chart-topping singer, rapper, and actress whose name and work are synonymous with body positivity. Last summer, several of Lizzo's employees filed a class action lawsuit against her, her dance team captain and wardrobe manager. The employees' accusations ranged from sexual harassment, discrimination, to, most ironically, body shaming. In this conversation, you'll consider how Lizzo ended up in this situation, what she could have done differently, and what she may want to do going forward. You'll also glean takeaways for how we can properly serve and lead in our own schools and workplaces.
