Hofstra University invites you to join a virtual course designed to give you an idea of what it is like to be a college student. In this session Professor Elsey will discuss "The History of Latin America through Soccer (Fútbol)." Get ready to nerd out in anticipation of the World Cup 2026! The history of soccer (or fútbol) in South America provides a window into how the region developed economically and politically. Understanding how the sport arrived in cities like Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Lima, Peru helps make sense of the passion for the sport in our era.
