Since the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, generative AI has rapidly reshaped our world - sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. One thing is certain: It is disrupting journalism. Join Scott Brinton, the program director of Hofstra University's Journalism MA program, for an hour-long conversation about how AI is changing journalistic practice. How can AI strengthen reporting, particularly investigative reporting? Where can it assist in the writing and editing process? What uses are ethical, and where should journalists draw the line? This session will introduce prospective graduate journalism students to the basic principles of using AI responsibly in their work.
